BCSP Strategic Assessment 07/08 - Summary

At the centre of The Community Safety Strategy for 2005-8 is the basic assumption that the achievement of crime reduction targets will rest on a close collaboration between the Partnership’s pan-Birmingham Core Priority Groups (CPGs), led by senior partners, and the ten Local Delivery Groups (LDGs) which operate in each Constituency.

Strategic Assessment Summary 0708

Substantial partnership funding passes through these groups and it is important that it is properly employed, hence the need for a very clear account of the crime and disorder situation it is being used to address. In this respect the Birmingham Community Safety Strategic Assessment is a key tool.

The Strategic Assessment, the third such document to be produced by Birmingham Community Safety Partnership, is substantial and comprehensive. The purpose of this summary document is not to précis the full document but to provide an outline of the scope, methodology

and key findings of the citywide document and to illustrate the strategic assessment approach, which will become an annual feature of the Partnership’s work.
