In recognition of the Government and City Council goal to have cohesive communities, the Partnership has developed the Community Engagement & Empowerment Core Priority Theme Group.
It is also anticipated that this group helps ensure Community Safety services are delivered in a way that meets the needs of Birmingham’s communities.
In order to achieve this the Partnership aims to:
- Promote opportunities for community and voluntary group engagement across the range of its activities, and contribute to the process of reducing race inequality and building community cohesion.
- Ensure that the Voluntary and Community sector is properly engaged in the activity of the Community Safety Partnership, through the work of Core Priority and Local Delivery Groups.
- Enhance the engagement and empowerment of the community and voluntary sector through the process of priority setting within Local Delivery Groups, with special reference to hard to reach groups, particularly among young people and within minority ethnic communities.
- Liaise with Birmingham Voluntary Services Council (BVSC) and Birmingham Community Empowerment Network (B:CEN) on specific issues of voluntary and community engagement.
