This issue needs to be addressed by a wide spectrum of organisations including the Police, Social Services, Education, Public Health, Housing, urban regeneration bodies and the community itself.
Birmingham Reducing Gang Violence, a Pan-Birmingham Priority Group of Birmingham Community Safety Partnership, provides the appropriate forum for delivering a multi-agency response to tackling this issue. BRGV has a clear aim, namely to reduce gang-related gun crime in Birmingham. It has identifiable, specific objectives, all designed to achieve this outcome. Through tasking of all partner organisations, BRGV utilises the full array of skills, competencies and capacities contained within the group ensuring that the impact of interventions, designed to reduce gang violence and gun-related networks and crime, are maximised to their full potential.
