Ladywood

Ladywood Community Safety Group is divided into an Executive Group that has the strategic function of setting priority & removing blockages & an Operational Group that devises & effects intervention to impact upon priorities.

Priorities

The priority crimes that the operational group is focussing on this year are:

  • Common Assault
  • Wounding
  • Theft from Person
  • Alcohol Related Violence
  • Public Place Wounding

Ladywood

In addition to the above, the group is focussing upon Vehicle Crime & Domestic Burglary which are NRF floor targets priority areas.

Progress to date

The LCSG has allocated its LPSA PRG (£20k) to the BSafe Evening Patrol initiative. The BCSP S&C CPG has also allocated £100k to this project because of the significant impact that it had on alcohol related violence & common assault, in the main, during the last financial year.

The group has also secured a considerable amount of NRF funding to impact upon NRF floor targets, PSA & LPSA  priority crimes. Projects are now at a delivery stage and it is anticipated that these will have an impact upon the above priority crimes by the end of the financial year.

Future plans

Neighbourhood policing will provide a mechanism to effectively engage with local communities (along with existing methods) to identify their neighbourhood crime issues / priorities. '0' level tasking groups are being established with the Council to enable effective responses to these issues. In addition to this, the function of the Safer Estates Groups that span the Ladywood Constituency are currently being reviewed.

The Constituency is working towards achieving an effective structure of impacting upon strategic & local crime priority in partnership with both statutory & voluntary organisations.
