
Since the preparation of the last strategy in 2002, the pace of change in the community safety area has increased dramatically at a national and local level. However, concern about crime and disorder and public safety has remained the number one priority in local opinion polls.
As the national focus on crime and disorder reduction has intensified with successive legislative initiatives, financial resources have also become directly available to Partnerships via specific Government funding.
